I continued to post on social media today while waiting for Mr. Reid to send me more sponsors to reach out to. Earlier today I finished reaching out to all the sponsors on the list but did not get any success. One of the companies stated that they were not interested due to the event being outside of the country. He said that they would have to do a lot of work t their marketing campaign before entering a new market. The company currently does not do business in South Africa. This was completely understandable. After taking marketing classes at Tiffin I realized that this does take time for a company to make sure they are doing things correctly. I was sadly told that the event will no longer be happening due to the rolling blackout in South Africa. I was very disappointed because I was beginning to really get excited about going to the event. Mr. Reid said that I am still invited to next year’s event. Since I have completed all my hours this will end my internship with Bridge Elite Global Foundation. I will continue to stay in contact to finish my necessary assignments.

Today I continued to post on social media due to the success that I received over during the last post. I did not receive as many interactions and engagements, but I did receive more than I did in the past. After posting on social media, I reached out to companies to see if they would be interested in sponsoring the event. The companies I reached out to were in the insurance, food, and car industries. I also took time to go get my necessary vaccines for the trip. Overall, it took a while to get the vaccines due to the amount of paperwork needed. It also took awhile because the doctor wanted to talk to me about the some of the health problems going on South Africa. She gave me information about the vaccines, suggested emergency rooms, food to stay away from, etc.
I took the opportunity today to do some marketing on social media. Even though I no longer have to post on media I decided to do it today because we are getting closer to the event. Once I posted on social media I realized that I received a lot engagements and interactions on my post. Engagements are when users actually click the post to learn more about it. I received 300+ engagements on the post which was the most I have ever had including the personal photos I have on social media. I also received a lot of friends and family direct message me to say that they are happy that I am getting this experience. I personally cannot wait for the event. Receiving the comments from friends and family have made me even more excited. I cannot get to excited because we still have a lot of work to do until the event is over. I also talked to Mr. Reid about the plans for our flights. He was able to give me an update on when and how we will be leaving for South Africa.
Today I reached out to another insurance company to discuss if they were interested in sponsoring the event. I was able to have a conversation with a US marketing director that works for the company. He stated that they receive a lot of sponsorship proposals this time of the year due to a lot of sports leagues starting in the fall. He said that it will take time for the information to move up the chain od decision makers. He also said that he does not know when it would complete and that it may take a while. This was completely understandable due to us being less than a month away from the weeklong event. I also decided to reach out to a coffee company. The conversation was quick after I reached the marketing manager. After talking to him on the phone he insisted that I send him the necessary information to allow him to review it. I received an email stating that the company was not interested in sponsoring the event
I took most of the day to focus on scheduling my appointment to receive vaccines. Overall, It was long and difficult process to schedule an appointment. When I first reached out to the World Health Organization in Toledo, I stated that I wanted to schedule an appointment for a vaccination. I learned that I must talk to a travel nurse before scheduling any vaccines. Once I reached the nurse, I told her where I was going which prompted to ask questions. She asked if I will be in rural areas, be in contact with animals, trust the food and water I am drinking, and which vaccines I have already had. I was lucky to discover that I had received most of the vaccines that are needed to go to Johannesburg. She stated that since Johannesburg is a bigger city it is safer for travelers. I would have issues if I went up north or lived in a rural city. She said which vaccines she suggests I should get, but at the end of the day it was up to me. I decided to get two vaccines that will keep me safe if I come into contact with dirty water or food. It was interesting to learn about the necessary vaccines to enter the country. I am concerned about the growing amount of monkeypox cases in the surround countries.
Today, I talked to Mr. Lemons about the event due to us leaving in less than a monthI wanted to get more advice on what type of vaccines I should get. I asked him this due to him being in South Africa over the last few months to plan the event. After talking to Mr. Lemon, I decided to do research to determine the best vaccines for me. It took me some time to figure out the best places to go but due to it being Saturday I could not reach out to any companies. I plan on doing this on Monday. Me and Rod also discussed new ways to reach out to companies. He sent me a new document that he would like for me send to companies when I reach out to them. The document gave specific numbers when it comes to price of sponsorships and the benefits of sponsoring the event. This was a good way to hopefully give companies incentives to joining the organization.
Today, I continued to reach out to companies to discuss potential sponsorships. I reached out to sports agency to determine if they were interested in sponsoring the event. I believe it was a good idea to reach out to this company due to them having similar history as Bridge Elite Global Foundation. They started out small and have grown into one of the biggest sports agencies in the world. The company has similar beliefs when it comes to empowering athletes and the importance of education. I was disappointed to realize that most of the emails that were given were incorrect. I was only able to reach out to one person out of 10 employees. This limits my chance of successfully reaching the company. I then decided to reach out to a pizza company that was on the list. I made multiple phone calls and emails. I am still wait for a reply to see if they are interested.
After reading Russell Dean’s statement, Mr. lemons reached out to discuss something that I may be asked to do in the future. He stated that he needs a quote from me to discuss how I feel about going to South Africa. He also stated that there is a chance for me to be interviewed by a famous television reporter. This is exciting news as we get closer to the event. It was good to know that the foundation trusted me to possibly be interviewed. I am looking forward to the possible opportunity.
Today, Mr. Lemons reached out to me to show me the new gear that was going to be available for purchase. I was already a fan of the gear on the next website, but the newer gear is better and has more diverse products. This allows anyone to find a product that meets their expectations. I was also sent an update about the Ballin N Da Bush Safari Classic. A junior guard from Hampton University named Russell Dean stated, “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for my teammates and me”. I completely agreed with him and was even more excited to get to South Africa in August. It will be an experience that I will never forget. I am excited to see the country and learn more about the culture. I am also excited to see everyone within the company while also gaining knowledge in running a tournament and weeklong event.
I started to reach out to people on the new list. The new list was more straightforward and gave me direct emails and phone numbers of members of different organizations. This relieved me of my frustrations when talking to customer services instead of real decision-makers in the company. I took the opportunity to study the script that was given to me. I was able to make a few changes so that it would flow better. I reached out to a car company today and talked to a member of the marketing department. It took a few phone calls but once I reached her, she was very open to giving me her email so that she can review the information. I am excited to hear what she thinks about Bridge elite and the sponsorship proposal.
